Charles Weng

 Mr. Charles Weng is well respected as a technical leader
in the semi-conductor and communication indu-stries. He
has extensive exper-ience in leading edge chipset system,
product integration, and HW/SW architecture design in
GSM, CDMA, and 3G technologies.
Mr. Weng is widely recognized as the technical pioneer
of the Motorola PDA phone “Tai-Chi” series which is
now the standard smartphone platform in Asia.
Mr. Weng started his career in Motorola Semiconductor
Sector in Austin Texas where he was responsible for
the design and development of the world’s first GSM
baseband chipset in 1986 . Mr. Weng was transferred
to Motorola cellular phone business in Asia. He was
instrumental to set up Motorola Beijing design center
focusing on world’s first PDA phone design. Under his
leadership Motorola Beijing design center had grown
to a full scale development center of GSM smart phone
and CDMA feature phone for Motorola global markets.
Mr. Weng left Motorola in 2002 to assume the position
of General Manager of Foxconn handset division. Under
his leadership this business unit has delivered more
than five cellular products and was certified ODM supplier
by two first tier handset manufacturers. Mr. Weng left
Foxconn to join E28 Limited at the end of 2004.
Mr. Weng holds five international patents in wireless
communication design and was named an associate member
of Motorola Science Advisory board .
Mr. Weng graduated with B.S of Electronics Engineering
degree from Taiwan Tanjiang University and M.S.E.E from
Iowa University, USA |
